The following drawing shows the parking lot area on the corner of Main St. and Kilkare Rd. (adjacent to the Park entrance and across from Bosco's and the Jazz Cafe).
PHASE ONE- CREEK BANK CLEAN-UP
AND RESTORATION
There are three specific parts to this Phase. One would
focus on pruning and removing invasive non-native plants.
The second part would be to replant native trees, shrubs
and grasses on the creek banks. If we could get native
sycamores to extend the grove behind the post office it would be
great . Cost could be significant or great depending on the
quantity and size of plant material.
The third part would focus on creek bank stabilization
using plants and cobbles.
PHASE TWO- PARKING LOT DEFINITION
This phase would define the limits of parking within the lot and
a proposed walkway from the Post Office to the Park entrance.
A parking bumper made out or railroad rails, placed in front
off a boxwood hedge could run between the parking lot and the
walkway along the creek.
PHASE THREE- CREEK BANK FENCE
A fence like that which we are currently using, but lower,
would tie together the Park with the creek area and
still maintain the openness.
PHASE FOUR - CREEK BANK PATHWAY
A pathway out of quarter x dust .
PHASE FIVE - ENTRANCE PLAZA
The area to the right of the bridge would be a small plaza
with a few benches, a place for plaques and perhaps postings.
PHASE SIX- ENTRANCE WALKWAY
The walkway from the end of the bridge to the entrance gates
could be improved with a higher quality surface to match
that in the entrance plaza. This is used by most visitors
to the Park and would a touch of class to the
initial impression.
